    Ha!

Tom, when I first pulled this up, the “says” part was blank. I almost thought it was some deep message about there being no words that can end the week on a rational, or, meaningful note.

Thought you had gone all “wise guru” on us.

Nope, just a slow operating system on my iPhone!

    Enjoy, y’all!

This has nothing to do with anything, but I spent the day at the Museum of American History on the mall in Washington DC.
Surprisingly, the American history museum was a bit of a disappointment. The displays are old and in bad need of repair. There are interactive units not working, peeling wallpaper, and some outdated information, like a lighting display that fails to mention the LED explosion now taking over the world because it was installed in 1999. Stuff like that.
On the other hand, there are large sections of the building blocked off for construction and renovation, so there is hope that an effort is being made to bring it up to some standard befitting its subject.
It seemed metaphorical to me. I stood on the Mall in the invisible gray rain to get a picture of the monument one direction and the Capital in the opposite, being about halfway between the two. A couple was arguing next to me. A child was crying somewhere nearby.
The American story, which should be the most exhilarating, exciting, deep and provocative thing, lies in near tatters in huge cinder block of a building. I feel like picking a fight.
This story is worth the struggle. It is what we are fighting for when we fight about budgets and the bad decisions of politicians that lead to such things as sequestration. Our story deserves a better fate. Our country deserves a better future.

What a GREAT comment, Jeff! I’ve missed chatting with you!

It IS a sad statement, and, even sadder that most people don’t even know what belongs within those walls, nor, how to incorporate the wisdom shared in their daily lives.

    Something like this:

Too bad he had to die because folks didn’t like his message.

Blackwater gets off with another hand slap. That’ll learn ‘em:

The original indictment was fifteen counts, count em 15 counts, most all serious felonies with significant punishment in the offing. Now granted, a few counts were pared off after a motion to dismiss by a court order dated February 4, 2013, but significant and substantive counts remained viable against Blackwater executives Jackson and Matthews.

But, instead of taking them to trial, or even extracting a reasonable plea that did justice for the public, the DOJ collaborated with the defense and walked into court without notice today, filed a new information containing a single misdemeanor charge and proceeded to sentence them on the spot to a hand slap.

I think “The New Pinkertons” would be a great name for a band.
