“I do not believe in democracy. I think it stinks. I don’t think anybody except direct taxpayers should be allowed to vote. I don’t believe women should be allowed to vote at all. Ever since they started, our public affairs have been in a worse mess than ever.” — Herbert Nelson, chief lobbyist and executive vice president for the National Association of Real Estate Boards, 1949
Royalists still think they’re the real patriots, don’t they?
Ellen Frost’s victory is official, but it isn’t final until we know whether or not there’s going to be a recount. Given that it’s this close, I think Merrill would be remiss not to seek one. So it could be a couple of weeks before we know for sure who won.
The Xpress article mentions that Merrill’s lawyer has already challenged some of the ballots from Warren Wilson. On what basis, I wonder?
I think Barry sums up the funny of all this very well:
“Ha ha ha. They tried to pull Warren Wilson, and all 1000 eligible voters, into District 1 (otherwise known as the ‘liberal ghetto’), so they reached out a prong & gerrymandered “the most liberal college in America” into Asheville. But they failed to realize that a lot of them actually live across the street from their mailing address.
So when it became clear what had happened, a whole bunch more of them went to the polls, and that’s all it took to keep the County Commission Democratic.
Ha ha ha! Is this a great town or what? ha ha ha ha…”
“The U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service is requesting assistance with an investigation involving the suspected illegal take of a fourth radio-collared red wolf that was recently found dead.
The wolf was found with a suspected gunshot wound on November 14, 2012, north of Fairfield, in Hyde County, N.C. It’s the fourth radio-collared red wolf taken since September. ”
Now it can be heard:

Looks like the Dems might not lose the majority on the Buncombe Board of Commissioners after all.

Final tally should be public around 9 this evening.

I was trying to put the facial hair of the “The Rent Is Too Damn High” guy on Tim Peck’s face.
And I have no idea why.

Hey, the GOP has been in charge of the state for 2 years now. If you don’t like the way things are, you should blame them.

What do they expect when it is announced that there is a $50 reward for wolves killed b/c they are a risk to someone’s food source.
Greed and need knows no bounds.
