Fox News Launches Proxy War Against Occupy Wall Street

Fox News has launched a proxy war on Occupy Wall Street (#OWS) on the taxpayers’ dime by instigating a federal investigation of New York Communities for Change, part of the team behind the successful Occupy the Boardroom. Politico’s Ben Smith reports tonight on an effort by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-1%; net worth $156 million) “to link the defunct community organizing group ACORN to the Occupy Wall Street movement.”

From NewsCorp (home of ‘Hacking on an industrial scale’) and Fox News comes this:

In a letter dated Monday, Issa, R-Calif., called for U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch of the Eastern District of New York to launch a probe into allegations first reported by that NYCC may have “solicited donations from union members under false pretenses and misappropriated those funds to support the protesters.”

Fox and Fiends’ business model relies on boogie men. So this is the next wave in Fox’s Zombie ACORN narrative that cranked up two weeks ago. They will be, as usual, relentless. NYCC rattled some cages, so Zombie ACORN must die … again.

Michael McAuliff from HuffPost:

Now Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa has decided the anonymously sourced stories warrant an investigation from United States Attorney Loretta Lynch, who oversees the Eastern District of New York.

NYCC, which has adamantly denied the Fox stories, offered a blistering response to Issa, calling him a “hatchet man” for Fox News.

“Issa, who famously declared that he wanted to hold a hearing a week for forty weeks when he took over the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, has largely come up empty,” said Jean Sassine, treasurer and a board member of NYCC. “[He’s] now scraping the bottom of the barrel, wasting Americans taxpayer money chasing baseless rumors fed to him by Rupert Murdoch.”

“It’s unfortunate but we expect nothing less from Issa, Murdoch and FOX.”

Watch this space. There will be Bat Boy sightings and reports of suppressed memories of ritual satanic abuse by reptoid aliens dressed like Jumpsuit Elvis before Fox is through.

“Reptoid aliens dressed like Jumpsuit Elvis”

Okay, then. This is just weird.. that’s okay, I still like your posts, I’ll have to fit this into the equation somehow. 😉

  3. Tom Sullivan says:

Weird is right. Delusional even. Like the “progressively more delusional” articles attacking NYCC, and by extension OWS. You have them worried, or Fox and Issa wouldn’t be putting out the Weekly World News.

    Then they fight you…

  4. TJ says:

    “Then they fight you…”

Well, that’s to be expected, eh? If you can’t fight with the truth on your side and have honest discussions, then there’s no limit. If you can rationalize it’s for the “greater good,” then dishonesty becomes the flavor of the day, and so ordinary, that you start believing it yourself.

Sartre addresses this in his ‘Being and Nothingness’ book. He noted that the difficulty of sorting through intent, is that in order to do something in “bad faith,” one must actually have some degree of good faith. In other words, in order to deceive one’s self, at some level, one must have an idea there is something to be deceived from in the first place.

I have less problem with people who react negatively toward OWS, simply because they DON’T really know.

When someone has seen the truth of the wizard of oz, then choose to be deceived or to deceive others…those, I have little patience for.
