Is anyone else as pissed as I am about NC sheriffs wanting access to our medical records?

Lemuria, please educate yourself before you speak. Van Duncan is the sheriff of Buncombe County. Bill Hogan is the Asheville chief of police, a totally different agency and a non-elected position. Your ignorance is painful.

Reader, fine. So sorry I couldn’t tell the authoritarian dipsticks apart. This does not address the central issue of North Carolina’s sheriffs attempted violation of our civil liberties on a breathtaking scale. Do you honestly believe that police chief Hogan wouldn’t be in favor of this as well. I’ve certainly been given no indication that he wouldn’t. Doesn’t Buncombe County and Asheville deserve law enforcement that will protect our civil liberties, as opposed to encroaching on them?

Wow. “…couldn’t tell the authoritarian dipsticks apart.” Tells me all I need to know. Thanks for that insight, dude. And Ralph, it does matter that he called the chief out without knowing who the heck he actually is. That is clearly ignorance.

Hmmm, “authoritarian dipsticks”
If someone has something to hide…I suppose “authoritarian dipsticks” would be how our low enforcement would be viewed.

However from my point of view, in general the folks responsible for upholding the law are the keepers of the peace

I’ve been close up and personal to folks abusing prescriptions….and in total denial because they were “physician” prescribed. Folks who should not be driving they are so fogged up on legal prescriptions. Up close and personal on folks who physician shop and get the same scripts from several physicians. I bet most other posters here are familiar with this issue also. Our safety is endangered by these people.

It matters because he’s making assumptions based on ignorance. It matters that there’s a difference between the sheriff and the chief, just like it matters that there’s a difference between Mayor Bellamy and David Gantt. He’s been given no indication that the chief wouldn’t support this initiative??? Has he been given an indication that he WOULD support it? Has he even ASKED the chief? Hell, for all he knows, Van Duncan may not even support this, and he actually IS the sheriff. Don’t drag Hogan into something that has nothing to do with him. Asking, “Can we get rid of him now?” based on an ignorant assumption is just plain dumb. Keep defending him, if you must, Ralph but it makes you seem foolish as well. Good lord.
