Representative Keever

The Buncombe County Democratic Party Executive Committee voted to recommend Patsy Keever to fill the North Carolina House of Representatives District 115 seat recently vacated by former Rep. Bruce Goforth. The Committee’s recommendation will be sent to Governor Perdue for her signature and official appointment of Keever to serve the remainder of the term.
Keever is currently campaigning for a full two-year term for the State House on a platform of creating quality jobs, renewing our local economy, ensuring that our children receive a quality education and preserving our mountain heritage. The General Election takes place on November 2 with early voting beginning October 14.
Patsy Keever is a former three-term Buncombe County Commissioner and has served as President of the Asheville-BuncombeLeague of Women Voters, Chair of the Criminal Justice Partnership Project and the Mountain Area Substance Abuse Prevention Board.
As the coordinator of last year’s Asheville-Buncombe CROP Hunger Walk, Keever helped organize communities of different faiths to work together to help alleviate world hunger through an awareness and fundraising walk. She currently chairs theBuncombe County Library Board of Trustees and sits on the boards of CarePartners Health Services and Pack Place Education, Arts & Science Center.
Keever taught language arts and social studies at Enka Middle School for 16 years and has taught for a total of 25 years in various public schools. She served as the president of the district and local chapters of the North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE).
