Comedy Break: Second Amendment Translation Party!

Translation Party is a website that lets you, the intrepid Internet Explorer, type an English phrase into the empty text box (oh, see how empty, how hungry it is, hungry for your words!) Then Translation Party translates your text into Japanese. O, but the magick is only begun! Then it translates that Japanese text back to English, and repeats this process until the translation stops changing: “equilibrium is reached,” as Translation Party puts it. I got the idea to feed it that already controversial nugget of English writing, the Second Amendment.

Additional note: The Translation Party result tends to mutate over time, unpredictably. The first time I tried it, some months ago, it insisted we not infringe the right to keep nuclear weapons.

Feeling that perhaps this was not enough to hang a post on, I did another Translation Party of the sentence

“Visitors used TripAdvisor to complain of pokey, smelly rooms, stained bedding, mouldy walls, and beds ‘like park benches’

from the Daily Mail article on perhaps the filthiest hotel in Europe. I’m rather impressed how hard the Translation Party website tried to sell the hotel room:

“Bed ‘smell attractive to tourists and moldy walls Benchipoki’ park for bedding TripAdvisor has stained glass windows in the room used.”

So now I was dying to know what it thought of this headline:

Actor Rip Torn, 78, arrested after he broke into a U.S. bank drunk with a loaded revolver

and I was not disappointed:

“Later, he was in the United States, the actor Rip Torn, 78, in the name of the drink, with a gun to the beat of the bank, has been arrested.”

In the name of the drink!

Sweet Jesus, Buckner…like I need anything else to distract me.

The Preamble to our Constitution:

And if you listen closely, you can even hear the sound of Tom Sullivan’s head exploding!

Alan, I believe the people’s understanding of the intent of the second amendment is the reason for the public’s recent massive expansion of gun and ammo purchases.

Why go for the fake Palin quotes, my favorite: “If God had not intended for us to eat animals, how come He made them out of meat?” yielded good results.
