Are you Man Enough?
By
Our VOICE, a non-profit crisis intervention agency which serves victims of sexual violence here in Buncombe County, is seeking men who are willing to take a stand against sexual violence — by donning high heels and “walking the walk” for an upcoming promotional video.
You may have heard of this sort of thing before: Henderson County GOP Chairman Robert Danos (pictured here — nice gams, Robert!) bravely slipped on a pair of pumps last year to help victims of domestic violence down in Henderson County. In fact, Danos, won the little drag race and took home the trophy. Go Robert!
So, if Danos can man-up down in stuffy old Henderson County, certainly we can find a few Real Men here in Buncombe, no? How’s about it, Vice Mayor Newman? Councilman Davis? Councilman Russell? Councilman Smith? Councilman Bothwell? What about County Chairman David Gantt? County Vice Chairman Bill Stanley? Former County Chairman Nathan Ramsey? Former Councilman Carl Mumpower? What’s Joe Dunn doing these days?
The promotional video will be filmed here in Asheville February 2nd – 5th. If you’re a Real Man and would like to show the community that you support Our VOICE’s efforts to prevent sexual violence and promote your business at the same time, please contact Robin Payne at (828) 713-9281. They’ll even provide the shoes.
UPDATE: The lovely Robert Danos informs me that Real Man Heath Shuler was invited twice to participate in their high-heel charity event down in Henderson and the good congressman turned them down two years in a row. Congressman, whaddya say?

I’d do it, but this really wouldn’t be much of a change from my normal evening wear.

Do they make high heels in Fred Flintstone sizes?

Of course they do. When have you ever seen a drag queen with little feet?

I think Heath needs a few more invites.

Perhaps we should protest in front of his office. A few misspelled signs and he’ll fall right in line…

“I think Heath needs a few more invites.”
To clarify, that would be one per year. We (I’m on the board) invited all elected’s, from Congress down to Register of Deeds, both years. Of course, whether he ever saw it or not I don’t have a clue.
But I hope this event goes well. In just two years we went from about 100 men to almost 200 this year and raised a bunch of cash.
“stuffy old Henderson County”. That, Muller, is deeply offensive and ageist. Just wait till next time you show your face at the Opportunity House (the big room, behind the bingo and quilting rooms.)

I’ll give it a try, I don’t run too fast in running shoes but maybe stilettos will give me a boost. Can I sing Kellie Pickler’s “Red High Heels” while I run/walk/limp? “You can watch me walk if you want to, want to . . . I am about to show you just how missing me feels, in my red high heels”

Thank you for your support Gentlemen. If this could become a race of any kind, invest in a pair of ballroom dance shoes. You can run in them. Steel support and aligned with leg bone. Top quality is pricey as is all sports equipment, for one day, try the capezio’s with a wide heel. You’ll thank me at the end of the day. Hope the event has interest and goes.

Michael,
We also “challenged” the community college baseball team, some cops, the local GE workers group, radio hosts, etc… The baseball team in uniform is a big hit.

Thanks for the tip, Robert. Excellent idea. I’ll call the organizer of the event on Monday and suggest some “outreach.”
Nice seeing you here on Scrutiny Hooligans (in addition to the sexy pinup photo).

We are currently looking for men to take part in the promotional video – wearing the red heels and doing a dance to “Walk Like a Man.”
