I would have higher budgetary priorities than that, does Gordon or Cecil? I would place affordable housing, homeless shelters and contraception funding (already existant through both health center and YWCA grants) higher and would want to divert some or all of this rec center money there. There are a number of things I don't like about the sidewalk ordinance, and the text in one place says it is being completely replaced, but in other places it says it is being modified and actually reduced. Well if it being replaced then it should be rewritten, but if it is only being reduced then the rewrite might as well wait. My problem with it is that regulations kick in when the builder reaches a specific number of units, and unit count is a very bad way to measure development size. Disturbed area, impervious area, and interior volume are far better measures with far less adverse impact on housing affordability.
