This is cool too: A dozen and a half of Asheville's homeless population will be traveling to Mississippi tomorrow morning to help post-Katrina reconstruction efforts as part of a service project -- they'll be driven down by volunteers from Trinity Episcopal, and they'll be gone for a week. I asked her what folks could do to help people who were displaced by (and lost their homes and everything in them) in the fire. At first she suggested that I give to the local Red Cross. (www.redcrosswnc.org) However, yesterday she said that residents had held a meeting and there is someone at the Hillcrest office that is organizing collecting support for the displaced families.
