Early Voting All Over The Place
By
Asheville City Council wisely decided to open additional voting locations during the final week of early voting in order to increase access to all of our citizens. Voting is open from 10am-6pm Monday through Friday and 8am – 1pm on Saturday at all of the following locations. You can stop into any of them to cast your vote. Same day registration will be available at all early voting sites for residents who are not registered. Same day registration allows residents to register and vote on the same day.

So the process looks like this – Vote. Ceaselessly remind your friends, families, co-workers, and email lists to vote as well. Make sure that everyone you know gets to a polling place. Woody Allen famously said that “80% of success is just showing up.” In this case it’s 100%. Help make it happen!

Careful with the Woody Allen quotes during an election – he also said this:
“More than any other time in history, mankind faces a crossroads. One path leads to despair and utter hopelessness. The other, to total extinction. Let us pray we have the wisdom to choose correctly.”

I’m surprised there hasn’t been any discussion here about yesterday’s Asheville Citizen-Times endorsements. I personally thought they were a little surprising but on the whole solid choices. The inclusion of J Neal Jackson was unexpected, but I do agree with the ACT that he would represent a woefully under-represented segment of the population. And maybe he’ll get more African-Americans out to the polls. They will likely vote for two progressives in addition.

Does anybody remember who they endorsed in 2007?

I specifically remember that they endorsed Jan Davis and Brownie Newman in 2007 although I can’t remember who their third pick was but I think that it was either Bill Russell or Dwight Butner.
It was odd that the ACT editorial did not say anything specific about the candidates they did not endorse which is what they usually do.

Well known for bold choices, the AC-T chose one progressive, one moderate and one conservative thereby satisfying their entire readership.

“Well known for bold choices, the AC-T chose one progressive, one moderate and one conservative thereby satisfying their entire readership.”
Given that NEITHER of the two genuine progressives are on their list, I started to say that I’m not satisfied at all. Then I remembered that they lost me as a reader a long time ago, so I really can’t dispute your assessment.

the Library at 260 Overlook is the South Buncombe Libary. The South Asheville Library is in Oakley.
