Those Wacky Europeans
ByI have a health care thread going on HuffPo, entitled What Civilized Country Operates Like This? that you can read here. TheBlackCat left the following story in the comments:
When my husband and I first arrived in the Netherlands, we were shocked because in Amsterdam there was a drive to raise money for an operation for Bertram. Bertram was from Amsterdam and needed very expensive gastrointestinal surgery that was unaffordable to his family. His story was on the local news, and there was a collection started to raise the money to get him this operation. Luckily the money was raised in one week flat, Bertram received his operation, and the news reported it was a success and thanked Amsterdam for pitching in.Bertram was a cat.
When I explained to my Dutch friends that in America we have to do this sort of thing for CHILDREN, they were aboslutely horrified.

For whatever it’s worth, I’m in support of universal coverage and a public option. A lot of research, recent experiences with my own healthcare, and the dictates of my faith have led me to this conclusion. Republicans need to get on board and contribute to making this work, otherwise they risk being on the wrong side of history on this one…like with so much else.
But let’s not pretend that Europeans aren’t wacky.

Everyone appreciates a good orgy; my concern centers around the mullet and mustache. The head bop at 1:21 is excellent, however.
