Today You Can Vote!
By
Early voting for Asheville City Council begins today. It’s been fun watching people move from “It’s still such a long way off” to “Really? It’s here already?”.
You can vote at the Board of Elections downtown at 189 College Street – Click here for a map:
September 17th – October 2nd
8am-6pm, Monday through Friday
October 3rd
8am – 1pm, the only Saturday of early voting
Even if you’re not registered to vote, you can go to the BOE with Proof of Residence (Drivers License or Utility Bill) and register on the spot.
The final day of voting is October 6th and will occur at your usual precinct polling location. I’ll give you procrastinators that information further down the road.
The opportunities before Asheville are exciting. If you’ll elect a City Council willing to embrace a sustainable future, we can have more affordable housing, greater energy efficiency, more green jobs, another step towards social equality, and a multimodal transportation future.
Spread the word via email, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and more using the handy “Share This” link at the bottom-left of this post. In 2007, Jan Davis won the primary with 3,647 votes. There are somewhere in the neighborhood of 55,000 registered voters in this city. This means that your voting bloc can swing this election. Whether you’re a college student, computer geek, green builder, lesbian, cyclist, or green building lesbian cyclist – your demographic can decide who wins. Get your people to the polls!
