Hey shithead douchebag firelady:

Do you have an actual valid argument or just baseless insult and ‘ad hominem’ ridicule?

We are meeting with Shuler in person Thursday. We won’t be improvising.

Tim: Your response exemplifies my concerns for these town halls. How can our country deal with the issues at hand when civil civic discourse- even on a blog- appears to be unattainable? Health Insurance reform is a critical issue for our economy. The issues are complex, and a solution requires the viewpoints of many diverse people. That can only happen if we can get beyond the ideological thinking and personalization of politics. We need people who can think their way out of a paper bag, rather than provide recitation of talking points from a by-gone era. Complexity thinking is difficult for ideological sheep.

The point I was making relates to the well-documented dynamic of similar “Town Hall” events across the country. Here is an editorial by a conservative paper in California (they endorsed McCain):

http://www.napavalleyregister.com/articles/2009/08/05/opinion/editorial/doc4a7918305d01f722673520.txt

I think your incendiary comment reinforces my concerns. I am completely willing to engage in a civil discussion about Health Insurance reform, though I doubt this discussion will occur with someone who insists on devolving to name-calling.

I’m disappointed to see this type of behavior tolerated on this site. Seems more appropriate for the AC-T Topix board.

Speaking of Health Care reform here is Rep. Conyers (D) opinion

“Congressman John Conyers says Barack Obama’s stance on health care has been wrong, and it’s going to cost the president “big time.” It might even cost Obama his second term in the White House.

Conyers …(is) one of the most consistently progressive members of the House, chairman of the Judiciary Committee and author of single payer health care bill H.R. 676 – legislation the White House has done its best to smother.

Obama once gave lip service to single payer health care, but as president has staked his reputation on a mishmash of corporate schemes and deals-with-the-devil masquerading as health care reform – a thoroughly confused and conflicted legislative concoction that Conyers describes, simply, as “crap.””

The Tea Folk are having a meeting with Rep. Shuler tonight to discuss their opposition to health care reform. From Erika Franzi at Asheville Tea Party:

Tomorrow evening, August 6, we have a meeting with Congressman Heath Shuler.

The meeting will include a half dozen people from our number who will present our views to the Congressman. I expect this to be a very productive meeting in which we are able to communicate to the Congressman exactly why we oppose Nationalized Healthcare.

You will be updated with the results of this meeting after it occurs. If possible, we will videotape the meeting so you can all see exactly how it went.

I am encouraged that Congressman Shuler has agreed to meet with us, despite the media’s portrayal of our movement as an angry mob. In order to prevent the furtherance of this misconception, let’s all remember to conduct ourselves in a civil and reasonable manner at the Recess Rally.

Let’s let

Has anyone told them the health insurance reforms working their way through congress have nothing to do with Nationalized Healthcare?

Hey Tim

Really disappointing conduct, there, calling a woman a “shithead douchebag.” Maybe you should take a break from this if you can’t act like a human being.

Oh, and don’t forget to remind Shuler that “Nationalized Healthcare” will open the US up to terrorists:

The AshevilleTeaParty website is currently telling people:

“We also believe that if this legislation is passed, the private industry and small businesses of America will face certain death in the very near future.”

Really? Certain death for private industry and small businesses? You’re staking your credibility on statements like that?

In order to care about credibility, you have to have a sense of historical perceptive. If conservatives had this, they wouldn’t be conservatives.

Wow Tim, you have finally removed yourself from the list of people I disagree with but still find interesting and informative. You are nothing more than a weirdo. You have taught me a valuable lesson. Thanks.

I applaud Congressman Shuler’s decision to not engage his constituents publicly in person. This tea baggery is getting out of hand fast. Wise move sir, thank you.

The only question I have is how did the wing nuts corner a private meeting? Ok, another question. How did progressives find themselves so out flanked and flat footed?

Tampa town hall on health care broken up by angry mob. Congratulations, teabaggers. You’re one step closer to lynching somebody.

The group that called for the mob (Tampa 912) has this gem among their ‘values’:

“I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.”

“I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.”

Thank you. My point exactly: E pluribus unum is Greek to them.

In spite of the fact that it’s written everywhere (including on our coins and national seals), for all the patriotic chest-thumping and flag-waving, a lot of people have missed the basic spirit behind the whole America thing.

They’ve made a fetish of freedom. Galbraith was right.

Explanation I never heard about where “E Pluribus Unum” came from, courtesy of the wiki:

“According to an interview with Priscilla Linn, Senior Curator, State Dept. Diplomacy, the phrase “Out of Many, One” came from a magazine called “The Gentleman’s Magazine,” published at the time of the revolution. Each year, the magazine would re-purpose one article from each of the year’s 12 issues, publishing a standalone issue that was “Out of many, one”.”

It was referring to the first aggregator/swimsuit issue.

(“I only buy it for the articles. Verily.” Benjamin Franklin, 1777)

This is NOT a matter of Dems vs. Republicans. This is a matter that we are getting screwed by BOTH parties! This country is $11.7 Trillion dollars in debt, and yet we continue to borrow from whomever will lend us the money. What do we do when they call the loans? Do we give them Alaska, Hawaii, or our national parks? What are we going to leave future generations? This is NOT a game! It is a matter that people are tired of being screwed by our own government. That our jobs are being exported to countries all across the world. In NC alone we have lost our textile, furniture, and logging industries to China, Taiwan, Mexico, and various other countries. Wake up America! OUR elected officials are catering to the special interests and not the interest of America!
