Know That Number

By writ of summons

carboncounterToday, officials from Deutche Bank unveiled the world’s first Carbon Counter in New York City.  The counter is based on ongoing sampling from the atmosphere that measures the amount of carbon dioxide and other GHG’s in the atmosphere.  But it is by no means “real time.”  The bank is looking to be a major player in the evolving cap and trade system and low carbon economy.  Their goal in setting up the counter is to “sensitize everybody to [the issue], remind them daily about it. Then you put a price on it, and let the market figure it out. “   Well, I don’t know about that last part.  Mr. Invisible Hand has provided quite a spanking lately.  But certainly, companies are already starting to trade carbon credits without government mandates.  That is an encouraging sign.  You can check out all the stuff at the website they set up, http://www.know-the-number.com/

And you (and everyone) can put both a Copenhagen Countdown counter and a Carbon Counter on your website.

See examples, and the blog entry on
“How to put the Copenhagen Countdown Clock on your website” at

for instructions.
