Howdy, Hooligans.

With the City Council race about to hit the warmer days of late May and early June, it’s time for us to hit the streets for another round of door knocking and phone calling.  We’ve already contacted nearly 2,000 voters in Asheville neighborhoods, and the next push requires your help.

If you’re a supporter of the campaign, now’s the time to step up and get involved.  Our canvassing and phone banking operations are the most efficient, effective ways to win votes, but they can’t work unless you help.

Our next canvass is May 30th, 11am-2pm in west Asheville.  We’ll be getting together a few minutes beforehand for coffee and training, then it’s off to the races.  Our last canvass weekend was a great success, and I hope we can surpass it this go ’round.

Tuesday, June 2nd from 6:30-9pm we’ll be catching up with anyone we missed on the canvass through another of our famous phone banks.  The Cinco de Mayo session was remarkable for the number of volunteers and the deliciousness of the Mamacitas tacos!

For those of you who just can’t spare a minute to come out, know that your donation could be the thing that puts this campaign over the top.

Donate online here. Every little bit makes a difference.

I need your help.  Together we can make Asheville more affordable and more sustainable, but only if we outwork the opposition and get the message out.

Canvassing is great person-to-person contact, and an efficient way to get a feel for the community. And for the Hooligan crowd, writing a letter to the editor should come as second nature. Show some love.

I think that I’ll make Gabriella our Director of Crowd Control. She was much more effective than I was at quieting folks before the speeches.
