On The Campaign Trail

All this campaigning is really cutting into my blogging!  This morning I’m meeting with Hunter Goosmann, General Manager of ERC Broadband, down at the Federal Building to talk about technological economic development.

ERC Broadband is committed to improving the technological infrastructure of the Western Carolinas. With a focus on economic development through education, research, and government projects, ERC Broadband is not only bringing the Internet to the rural Western Carolinas, but also bringing next generation Internet and advanced technology to the region.

At noon it’s down to the River Arts District to talk with Riverlink’s Executive Director, Karen Cragnolin, about this:

“RiverLink is a regional non-profit spearheading the economic and environmental revitalization of the French Broad River and its tributaries as a place to work, live and play. Since 1987 we have engaged in simultaneous efforts to address water quality concerns throughout the French Broad River basin, expand public opportunities for access and recreation, and spearheaded the economic revitalization of Asheville’s dilapidated riverfront district.”

There’s some office work to do this afternoon, then it’s on to Frank Adams’ home for a private fundraiser.

Every week I’m meeting fascinating people who have been working for years in various areas to make Asheville a better place.  Since I can’t be an expert on everything, I’m looking to our community experts to work together with me to make Asheville more affordable and more sustainable.
