I feel your pain. I get “Sundown” stuck in my head at least two or three times a month.

“Edmund Fitzgerald” is one of the few “modern” songs my father knows. His two uncles were ore boat captains on the lakes, and he and his brother spent summers working on them. Milwaukee made the recreation of his great-grandfather’s(?) lake schooner, Moonlight, the centerpiece of Pier Wisconsin. You can see the S/V Denis Sullivan here.

Such a haunting song. It never fails. I’ll be pulling out of a parking lot, or getting ready to go into a store, and when the song happens on the radio, I have to just stop, relax, and take the whole thing in. Thanks g.

I never much got into Gordon Lightfoot, but I’m enjoying Bruce Cockburn’s new album, Slice of Life. You can preview the whole thing for free at http://bit.ly/598Hq

(Heck, you can listen to it at the computer until you’re sick of it, buy it, or they take it down). If you download it from the label, it’s half-price ($10).
