Shuler Will Not Seek Senate Seat in 2010

By

Well, I guess I counted those chickens before they vine-ripened:

“I can confirm that Congressman Shuler has officially stated he will not seek a Senate seat in 2010,”Shuler spokesman Andrew Whelan told the Asheville Citizen-Times.

Too bad he will not seek a Congressional seat as well. It’s good for the state – but bad for WNC. Probably was our only shot at getting a progressive – or an actual democrat to represent our area.

if Shuler keeps voting against bills that are supported by 60+ % of folks and those bills end up helping the country there will be a possibility for a progressive to challenge Shuler in 2012 – if the progressive does not want to go through the primary nightmare to unseat Shuler, maybe running as an independent or on the Green Party ticket is the way to go?!

but first thing first, let’s get Gordon and Cecil elected, help unseat Burr, and make sure that President Obama get’s re-elected in 2012!

Help unseat Burr, right… but also help unseat McHenry and Foxx. Hell, even if they’re unseated by other Republicans who are actually willing to get their hands dirty and get things done rather than keep participating in the same old tired classic GOP obstructionism (which was bragged on by McHenry over the weekend), it would be a small victory in those districts.

Also, the time is now to start looking for a viable Democratic primary challenger for Shuler.

help unseat McHenry and Foxx

so how do you suggest we go about that – do you know folks in those districts that would want to organize to accomplish this?

Yea, Helping get rid of Foxx and McHenry will probably involve the removal of all of the voters in those areas – or redrawing the congressional lines – which will occur in a few years. Unless we have some volunteers to move into that area? LOL
