Were we just we looking at the next meltdown waiting to happen? These voters are a little too virulent for my liking. Did any of them have anything except a purely fear based reaction to Obama and his supporter? I couldn’t bear watching for to long. These people are bad for America or any other country for that matter. The rednecks were precious. I bet the guy on the back was wanted in three states for parole violations the way he was trying to avoid the camera.
I was actually attacked and had my life threatened in 2004 at home in NWFL because I was supporting Kerry.
Which reminds me, btw, WHAT WERE WE THINKING? I have no problem getting attacked for my politics (part of the job), but for Kerry. Man, we were desperate back then.
So, when we landslide, these are going to be the ones with pitchforks claiming a stolen election? Just give ‘em some 50% off for Applebees and they’ll be silenced in an avalanche of honey mustard. Seriously, though, I’ve never seen venom like that before. They’ve been whipped up into a lynch mob. Snark aside, I’m stunned.
oh my gosh, that is so frightening. I wouldn’t be as horrified if they supported McCain’s policies or real issues, but the fact that they are spouting out garbage is so scary. Do these people ever follow a real news source or do they just follow each other around and feel good about the hatred they spew?
If Obama wins everybody who said it was patriotic to just shut up and support the president will screech loudly the whole time. Seriously, for all the current noise about Bill Ayres, be ready for some real domestic terrorism. Many of these people will get a whole lot uglier.
I agree Matt. I think it will get real ugly before the election. These people will start to come to the realization that Obama is going to win and they won’t be happy. Once in the White House, he will have a very tough time on top of all the crap he is going to inherit.
I worry about Obama.
Let’s start with this video. There were obviously a couple of nutjobs in that line, but the situation was meant to be provocative – a group of counterprotesters demonstrating at an event for the losing campaign, with someone who must have clearly been an Obama supporter taping people and asking them questions.
There were a couple of anti-abortion people talking about “killing babies,” but those folks have been in a frenzy for years. There was apparently a brief stretch when folks were chanting “get a job,” which is hardly the worst thing they could chant. Then you had a few of the cussed mouthing off about socialism, terrorism, etc.
The worst was probably the bit about the rape kits – but as ugly as that was, I honestly don’t think that you would get the same answer if you sat that guy down in his living room and asked him if women should have to pay for them. In a charged situation, with his side losing an election, faced with what must have seemed like a bunch of vaunting Obama supporters hurling insults, he decided to “act out” and give the most shocking response possible to a provocative question.
The longer this goes on, the more this looks to me like 1992 all over again, except Obama’s race is making things worse. And yeah, 1993 was a horrible year for poisoned rhetoric, and that led to 1994, which was a bad year for the country in general. I hope Obama’s ready to avert these catastrophes, and that the Democrats in Congress are prepared to back him up. But bad as this is, this crowd has nothing on the folks who marched and demonstrated, and threatened and attacked in opposition to the civil rights movement. They don’t even come close. So I’m not worried about revolution or rebellion – just about the reincarnation of Newt Gingrich in some form or other.
On the other hand, though, the conservative movement was still ascendant in 1992 – movement conservatives still hadn’t taken Congress, and they still hadn’t led a unified government. Now they have, and it’s clear that every one of their vaunted solutions has actually made things worse. Again, my biggest fear is that they’re preparing an anger-fueled backlash a la 1994, but I don’t think they’ve got the ideas to sell, and the angry white men who always bought them before are becoming a smaller and smaller portion of the electorate.

Guys, call me naive, but I’m not that worried.

Just my two cents.
