Hopefully the three melatonin tablets I just took will counteract the bigass cuppa joe I downed @ Caffiend and I’ll be able to sleep for at least a few hours tonight.

Busy day tomorrow – Obama rally, then maybe an early dinner and a screening of Religulous @ the Fine Arts. I’m sure I’ll have plenty to say about both…

Just posted a little diary at Kos. It’s about hooliganism.

The more I see Obama in action, the better I feel about his chances of winning. I am unable to see him in person, but these special event videos make it all come alive and remind me daily how really important this election is to us and to the future of our country. Go Obama/Biden.

Also, just to share a Kos posting. There is a town called Hendersonville, NC. that has a road sign that says Obama is not welcome in their town. If Obama is not welcome, then I guess I am not welcome, surely then my family is not welcome, my friends are not welcome. In fact, any freedom loving American who believes that every vote should count is not welcome, Truth is not welcome. HENDERSONVILLE, NC does not welcome strangers.

CarmanK: first of all, welcome! It’s great seeing that so many Kossacks have been checking us out for the last several hours, and we hope that you like what you see or read and come on back sometime.

Secondly, I gotta defend Hendersonville here. It is true that the town has one of the highest per-capita populations of registered Republicans in the state of NC (if not the highest), but one wackjob with a sign in his front yard does not an entire town make, nor does well-placed hyperbole.

I work in Hendersonville, and most of my coworkers live in Hendersonville and the surrounding area (as did I for several months upon my arrival in NC in 1998, before moving to Asheville). There are just as many Obama bumper stickers on the cars in the parking lot as there are McCain stickers. Which is a marked improvement over 2004, where the support for Bush/Cheney’s reelection was overwhelming bordering on obnoxious. However, after the last two debates I’ve heard a lot of them say that they’re not so sure about McCain/Palin anymore.

My parents live in Hendersonville, and the last I heard they’re planning on voting for Obama.

IIRC, there were people from our local Obama campaign headquarters down in Henderson County last weekend, doorknocking and recruiting volunteers; I haven’t heard of any lynching or necklacing stemming from their visit. As recently as a few months ago I’ve even heard rumors of a Drinking Liberally chapter starting up in Hendersonville.

So, Hendersonville as a whole may still be in the tank for the GOP, but it’s not exactly Mayberry either.

(Having said that, I’d love to know where that sign is. I can pop over on my lunch break one day and snap a picture.)

My daughter and I spent yesterday morning making t-shirts in prep for our family’s attempt to see Obama Asheville today. :) We’re leaving shortly and hope to be one of the 10,000 who get in!

(We also live in Hendersonville. I’ve never seen the sign but would snap a photo if I knew where it was too.)

I think that Hendersonville is like a lot on WNC towns — the town itself tends to vote Democratic, but the areas out in the county vote Republican and in Henderson Counties case the margin in the county is so huge is wipes out any edge the town gives to Democrats.

I live in the outlaying areas in Fletcher zip code on the side of a mountain on 30 acres in Henderson County and I am voting for Obama.

Undoubtedly whoever put the sign up is another non-native who moved to the area and thinks they speak for everyone now…

My daughter will be there with her family today as she lives in Asheville. Wish I could join them for the day, but I’m 6 hours away in Cincinnati. I’ll be working at campaign headquarters next Saturday for a few hours, so at least I can do my part.

GO Obama/Biden ‘08!

“So, Hendersonville as a whole may still be in the tank for the GOP, but it’s not exactly *Mayberry* either.”

Remember “Sheriff” Andy Griffith is a Democrat!
