Ain’t Got No Gas
ByTell anyone in western North Carolina that Shell was bagged, and they’ll know what you mean. I’m lubing up my neglected bicycle to serve until the petrol is flowing again. It’s good for me, but I can ride to work. I’m wondering if there will be a rash of siphoning this week, leaving folks who filled their tanks in long lines shaking their fists at befumed thieves.

I have hired an armed guard to keep a close watch on the 1/4 tank of gas sitting in my driveway for the last two weeks.

I bought a siphon to work on my lawnmower.
I’ll rent it out to folks for reasonable overnight rates.

I had to drive to Hendersonville today, and I knew I didn’t have enough gas to make the return trip. Just winging it and hoping for the best. I found a Shell Station at Upward Road with $4/gallon, $50 max gas.
I’m Full, baby, full.

Wow… no shortages here in MO that I’ve seen. And what’s wrong with topping off? We don’t eat all the food in our fridge or pantry before buying more? How do you plan for emergencies? If I’ve got to get to work, or keep my family safe, then planning ahead is just fine. Making sure the gas tank is full is part of the deal. And the other gas tanks that run the generator, etc, etc. The problem isn’t people topping off tanks. The problem is that the U.S. oil/energy infrastructure is outdated and inadequate to support the needs of Americans. I don’t know why you guys have shortages right now, but probably something about distribution. Hope it gets better for you.

I can’t even leave my house and I’m waiting to hear we have gas. I’m supposed to leave town a day ago for my birthday and I’m stuck. When are things going to get back to normal!!!?
