Turning Bush States Into Obama States

By

Taegan Goddard’s Political Insider has this very cool list of states that went big for Bush in 2004 but are now in play:

According to recent polls, Sen. Barack Obama is doing extremely well in states that have voted Republican in recent presidential elections.

Montana: Bush won by 11 points in 2004, Obama leading McCain by 5 points
Colorado: Bush +4, Obama +5
Virginia: Bush +8, Obama +2
New Mexico: Bush +1, Obama +3
Florida: Bush +5, Obama +2
Indiana: Bush +20, Obama +1
Georgia: Bush +16, McCain +1
Mississippi: Bush +20, McCain +4
Alaska: Bush +26, McCain +4
North Carolina: Bush +13, McCain +4

You know the Republicans are in trouble when Mississippi, Georgia, and North Carolina have become Presidential swing states.

My daily electoral checker is at http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2008/Pres/Maps/Jul07.html

They give the latest polls taken for each state so you have to check for the organization conducting the poll. They also show the states daily where polls are being conducted. As of July 7, Obama has a 320-218 lead over McCain and that’s with McCain leading in Florida. (Last Florida poll was on June 26 by Rasmussen and McCain was up by 7).

They also track polling data for the US Senate races around the country.

Thanks, Bob. Here’s the electoral tracking site I like to use:

I have no dog in this fight as I am voting for neither.

You can get your hopes up, but there are a lot of closet voters out there who do not want to be seen as racist in a poll. This race could be very close.
