Parkside: WLOS Scoops Everyone

By

WLOS gets the latest turns in the story (video is up ought to be up soon). Stewart Coleman and his Parkside boondoggle were to appear before the City’s Technical Review Committee this Monday, but his hearing will be continued until July 21st at the earliest. The City is seeking a stormwater runoff plan that will take Mr. Coleman a few days to put together.

Parkside Condo Decision Delay (07/02/08)

A decision on whether developer Steward Coleman can build his Parkside Condominium project won’t be made next week after all.

The project goes before the Technical Review Committee Monday, but they have requested changes to a stormwater runoff plan, which will push a decision back to at least late July.

Coleman says he already submitted one plan and doesn’t like finding out he needs another one less than a week before he was to make his presentation to the TRC.

“I’m not quite sure what it is I don’t know how to address it. I’m confused,” he told News 13. Coleman also confirms he’s been offered a land swap from Buncombe County. The Parkside property at the former City/County Plaza, for several acres off Merrimon Avenue, near the old Naval Reserver Center.

But Coleman says he is not particularly interested in that property.

“I would prefer not to get involved in that, only because we have no development or design interests in developing a piece of property of that nature,” he said.

The County offered Coleman a land swap, and he’s turning it down.

{for those of you who noticed: sorry for the confusion re: TRC meeting. i’m maybe too tired to be doing this tonight.}

I think when Coleman says he’s “confused”, what he really means is “furious”! At least he held his temper and didn’t grab for the videocamera! ;)
