Over the last few days, several of our regular visitors have generously donated a few bucks in order to help offset our operating costs. As Linda Richman might say, we are all verklempt. It means a lot to us that what we do means that much to so many people, so much so that they were willing to help keep us online, not just during a major election year but also with so many things brewing locally. We are extremely grateful and appreciative for the support.

As more and more people began to discover us, several technical problems began to crop up, forcing us to rethink our situation and take matters into our own hands. So we moved to a local, Asheville-based webhost (PurpleCat, who we recommend highly to anyone who’s thinking about starting a website) whose personalized customer service and support has been nothing short of outstanding, and with their able assistance the transition from our old host was most definitely the smoothest that I’ve ever experienced. Also, many of the aforementioned technical issues have either improved significantly or have disappeared altogether as a result of the move.

All of this awesomeness does come with a cost, though, but rest assured that your donations will go toward helping to cover our operating costs, nearly all of which will be going directly to a local, homegrown business. (Honestly, there is a small percentage of those costs that go to our Arizona-based domain registrar. That couldn’t be helped.) Also, your donations will keep us free of any banner or sidebar advertising and the tracking cookies that come with it.
