Obama/Webb ’08?
By
Jim Webb whooped George Allen in Virginia, and he’s been a power player in the Senate from day one. Obama/Webb ’08? The Star City Harbinger interviews a casemaker:
“SCH: How can Democrats, Independents and Republicans who feel positively about Senator Obama contribute to his chances of success in November?
McGRAW: We Democrats need to do all that we can to convince people that Barack Obama is the best choice for President in November, and I am now convinced that having Jim Webb’s name on the ballot as Obama’s VP could go a long way to making sure that we win. Most importantly, Jim Webb would not do this for glory or vanity – he would only consider running as VP out of a sense of duty and responsibility to his country. He’s one incredible patriot as he has proven time and time again.

This is like the Santos/McGarry ticket.
There are a couple downsides to to Webb. In eight years, he will be 70…too old for
anyonea Democrat to run for President. Also, would we lose that Senate seat to a repugnican? I don’t know if it would be up to a special election or governor appointment.
But, like McGarry to Santos, Webb would bring in plenty of foriegn policy heft to the ticket.

Would it be safe to assume that Edwards will release his delegates to Obama now and put Barack over the top for the nomination?

I think it is safe, but wouldn’t count on 100% taking the leap. How many are there, 19? Not sure that math closes the deal.

Oh, only 19?
All the same, it’s the next-to-last nail in the coffin. The last one comes next Tuesday.
