Also, looks like there’s some fun doings @ the Asheville Art Museum tonight!

Join the Asheville Art Museum’s ARTmob from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 25 for an evening of synchronicity as we explore the musical and magical landscapes of The Dark Side of the Rainbow.

ARTmob, the Museum’s event series and member group for social networking and art appreciation for the area’s young professionals, will bring an urban legend to life by screening the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz synchronized with the sounds of Pink Floyd’s 1973 album The Dark Side of the Moon.

The result is a fun, outrageous and at times eerie audio-visual sensation which has to be experienced to be believed.

The screening will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m., but come early to enjoy the exhibition Time is of the Essence: Contemporary Landscape Art.

This event is free for ARTmob members and $10 for guests. Popcorn, beer from Pisgah Brewing Company (two free drinks per guest) and Friday night admission to the Museum galleries is included.

This event is held in conjunction with the exhibition Time is of the Essence: Contemporary Landscape Art, on display in Appleby Foundation Gallery through June 22.

For more information on joining ARTmob or volunteering for ARTmob events, contact Rebecca Lynch-Maass at 828.253.3227, ext. 114 or rlynchmaass@ashevilleart.org.

Another fun movie/album sync is Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and Rush’s 2112, but no one ever talks about that.

No holes-in-one, but I scored a respectable +3. The course is being prepped for the Mountain Games, and some of the baskets are in new, pro positions. Very difficult.

Want some good news? From Global Security Newswire:

The United States and Russia have converted 10 metric tons of highly enriched Russian uranium to low-enriched nuclear reactor fuel, the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration announced yesterday (see GSN, July 14, 2006).

The U.S.-Russian Material Consolidation and Conversion program effort has eliminated the proliferation risk posed by the original material, which could have been used in 400 nuclear weapons, according to an NNSA release.

I think I’ll head out to Keith Thomson’s fish fry. Everyone’s invited.

word on the street is that barack “attack” obama is gonna be at Hickory High school Tuesday at 4pm. Dunno if it’s open to the public though, only 200 people can go and at least some of those spots are reserved for students/ teachers. Maybe a stop in Asheville later that evening?

Unlike other times when Lindsey has reported on Barack’s whereabouts, to our knowledge this is actually true.

Local supporters of Sen. Barack Obama will be hosting a free cook out with music today at the Joli Rouge bar on College Street to celebrate early voters.

Attendees are encouraged to vote early today at the Buncombe County Board of Elections down the street at 189 College Street between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Voters can stop by the Joli Rouge for slow cooked pork and music by Reigning Sound, who will play on the patio. Those interested are encouraged to bring a blanket and listen from the grassy park across the street.

The event is one of 150 being planned across North Carolina this weekend by the Obama campaign to encourage people to participate in the state’s first first-ever One-Stop Early Voting period.

One-Stop Voting for the May primary runs through May 3. Unregistered voters must bring identification to participate.

Bocce. In a lumpy field among blooming apple trees. The odd bounces keep it interesting.
