Hillary Clinton’s Husband Coming To Asheville

By Gordon Smith

hillarys-husband.jpgAshvegas has the catch from the Raleigh News and Observer:

Former President Bill Clinton will make two additional stops in North Carolina during a campaign swing Friday, Sen. Hillary Clinton’s campaign office announced tonight.

Campaigning for his wife, a U.S. senator from New York, Bill Clinton will visit Gastonia and Asheville in addition to previously announced stops in Greensboro, High Point, Kannapolis, Salisbury and Hickory, the campaign said in a news release.  The visit comes one week after he stumped for his wife in Charlotte and Cary.

Hillary Rodham Clinton is scheduled to campaign in Raleigh, Fayetteville and Winston-Salem on Thursday.

The timing and other details of the seven stops have not been announced.

The Big Dog is coming to Asheville, and you know that’s sexy. Barack’s going to have to come now, you know. I mean, Michelle Obama would be great and all, but I think it takes Obama to trump Bill. Who wants to bet that Obama will be here in three weeks or less?

I’ll be waiting to meet him at the Trophy Club.

After the SC primary, after seeing innumerable pictures of him wagging his finger in the face of every camera in the universe, I have lost all respect for him. My sense is that in an attempt to get his wife elected, at whatever costs, he has sullied what little nostalgic yearning I’ve had for the “Clinton Years”. Yuck.

Have I mentioned that Edwards has been working for Clinton in NC? Yup- Clinton and Edwards in Chapel Hill talking about how to engage textile workers in NC. Spoke to a person who sat there and watched the whole thing. I am so very, very disappointed in Edwards.

John for Hill? That’s too bad. Would love to meet my favorite President though even if his churlish behavior is pretty repugnant.

Expect to wait. These things are rarely on time. It’s his last stop of the day. He won’t be there before 9 p.m., but you’ll have to be there much earlier. Bring a book and something soft to sit on.
