Open Thread: EAR PWR

By

If you ever tire of Ashefunkjamfolk and just want to jump up and down, go to EAR PWR. No heavy lyric, no 17/5 time, no pretension – EAR PWR is all driving beats and absurd fun. This is EAR PWR at POPAsheville last month:

17 quarter notes per 5-beat measure? Even if it were theoretically possible, I have serious doubts that any Ashefunkjamfolkthing would be capable of reproducing it… and if they could, heads would explode throughout town.

Anyway, I’m about four pairs of socks away from having my bag completely packed. We are LA-bound, baby! WHOOOOOOOOOO!

Hopefully by this time tomorrow I’ll be lounging by the pool with a refreshing adult beverage here (I love Hotwire.com). I’ll be checking in from time to time… and I’ll be uploading pics from the trip here as the SD card on my camera fills up.

Have a good week!

I can’t believe Arratik’s going to be out of town for this:

Asheville’s Harvest Records teamed up with local online music purveyor Tomentosa Records to bring in dealers from the region, says Harvest co-owner Matt Schnable. Response was “massive,” he said, with dealers signed up to bring in thousands of LPs, 45s and CDs — everything from punk and metal to psychedelic, funk, jazz, rock’n’roll and obscure noise.

I know. Talk about shitty timing.

No worries, though. I’ll have Amoeba Music to keep me company. :)

NOW we’re off…

Is it beginning to look like Obama is going to win the nomination? Is it too early to get one’s hopes up?

It’s too early, writ, yes. If Hillary! stays close in Wisconsin and wins Texas and Ohio, then it’ll go to Pennsylvania. If no one rocks it there, then it’s North Carolina on May 6th.

Obama’s momentum will level out, and the Clinton attack machine has kicked into gear – slamming Obama for not doing a Wisconsin debate (I guess the first 38 debates weren’t enough?), for voting for the energy bill, for suggesting that all options are on the table to deal with Social Security…

She will not go quietly.
