Stop Loss

By Gordon Smith

MTV Films is coming out with a film that, from the looks of the trailer, honors American soldiers’ sacrifice in Iraq, examines the effects of multiple deployments on military families, and explores the moral dilemma facing them when their contracts are not honored.

A thoughtful film from MTV whose trailer starts with “let the bodies hit the floor”?

I was surprised, too, Bob. Watch the whole trailer, and you’ll see what I mean.

I’d be willing to bet that the Drowning Pool song in question won’t even appear in the movie.

At least they didn’t use Peter Gabriel’s “Solsbury Hill” – it’s been used in so damn many movie trailers over the last few years that every time I hear it I cringe. And that’s something I don’t like to do whenever I hear Peter Gabriel.

(I confess, I had no idea who Drowning Pool was – I had to look it up)

Yah, I only knew it because it’s on wrestling.

In any case, this should do a little better than Redacted.
