Open Thread: A Fun Friday Afternoon “Guess That Track!”

By Arratik

Okay, twenty points to the first person to correctly identify both the source of this snappy little musical cue and the context in which it was used:

Have a great weekend, Hooligans!

It’s the background music for The Price Is Right when Rod Roddy (R.I.P.) was describing the “next item up for bids!”

Ohhh, so close! Your source was right on (of course), but this cue was used during a very specific segment of the game.

Okay Okay…it came from “The Showcase Showdown” segment at the end of the show. They always had some lame theme for all the prizes, and silly segues leading into the next one, usually ending with a camper van or a car.

The sad part is that I know this.

He’s good, ladies & gentleman! This was, indeed, the music that was used during the first showcase – the one that was usually passed to the lower-scoring finalist in favor of the NEW CAR! and TRIP TO ARUBA!

(I’m not sure what’s sadder – you knowing that or me having mp3s of The Price is Right musical cues on my hard drive…)

Hey, I just heard the clip, soswolf . . . it’s not fair!!!!

On another note (bad pun), I just want to share a segment of the Blumenthal College Republicans video Screwy posted a while ago (I’ve had some Margarita’s so am not going to do the link).

Tom Delay told the YRs that the 40 million American potential babies aborted could have had the jobs illegal immigrants now take. (It was in reference to “in case you don’t think abortion laws affect you personally).

So, unwanted children forced on their parents (or orphans because their mothers died in childbirth) will take custodial, agricultural and construction jobs other Americans don’t want.

Good to know.
