Keith Presnell lost his state Senate seat to Joe Sam Queen last year. Joe Sam held it in 02-04 so it's a yo-yo. The 47th district comprises Avery, Madison, Mitchell, Yancey, McDowell and parts of Haywood. It appears to swing Dem on non-presidential years when the voter turnout is low . . .
