President 2008: Richardson Keeps His Promises
By“I lived in New Mexico for 10 years. During that time there was a Republican governor and then Bill Richardson, a Democrat. The difference was night and day for lgbt people.
When Bill was getting to run for Governor he invited various constituency groups to meet with him and tell him what our priorities were. For lgbt people, we said we had two primary priorities: hate crimes and non-discrimination legislation, transgender inclusive, that he would sign. He said he had no problem with those priorities.”
[...]
“During the first legislative session both of our bills were passed with some help from the Governor’s office.”
[...]
“Governor Bill Richardson gave his word and he kept his word. Please remember this when you look at the people running for President.”

The more I read about Richardson, the more I like him. It would be nice if he could get more coverage though. Realistically, what are his chances? Can he raise the money that will be necessary?

His chances are as good as anyone’s. He’s getting rolling in fundraising (eclipsing $2mil), which probably puts him in 4th on the Dem side. His name recognition is great in the West. He’s got an extensive worldwide network of colleagues to draw on.
He looks a lot better than John Kerry did at this stage of the game in ’03.

I like Richardson and would love to see him on the ballot. One wouldn’t have to fall prey to the “lesser evil” vote.
I just wonder if he can sustain that kind of fundraising especially when Hillary’s all mighty machine goes at full throttle.
It is still early and maybe keeping a lower profile and let the heavyweights fight it out is a good strategy.
