Indianopolis Colts Coach Tony Dungy’s Anti-Gay Agenda
ByTo all you Colts fans out there, know that your team’s head coach is on board with the radical anti-homosexual agenda. Atrios links to the AOL Sports Blog, which reports that Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy will headline an event for the Indiana Family Institute, an anti-gay pack of homo-hatin’ hoosiers.
Gooooooooooooooooo Bears!
I’m assuming we’ll see a 2007 Super Bowl Shuffle any minute now…
(EDIT – syntax here. The dead YouTube video has been replaced by an active Google Video link.)

Ah, I see we’re no longer on teh old Blogger. We’re moving up in the world.
Fun trivia: “The Super Bowl Shuffle” was actually nominated for a Grammy – Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group, making them the only sports team to date to be nominated for any Grammy award.
Trivial relief: They lost to Prince’s “Kiss” single.

So, ‘This video is not longer available’?
Why is that, do you suppose? The long arms of the NFL?
Ever wonder why his boy killed himself? I do.

After winning the AFC title game, Colts owner proclaimed “The
Glory of this win goes to God (something like that anyway)” and then Tony Dungy’s comments included thanking Jesus! So this does not surprise me at all. FYI, PGA professional golfers (US pros) are 80+% Bible thumper neo-cons (a recent article on European PGA players stated this fact)
These people are living in a world of fantasy and make believe. They actually believe God follows NFL football and magically gives them their so called superior football skills and talents. Most college and Professional football players/coaches are now part of this hate crowd. It has become a good ole boys club in most Sports in the US.
Gays provide a GREAT enemy for the bible thumpers to “villainize”, justifying their hatred. It is simply “fear mongering”, and face it, many football players (not all) are not exactly the most intellectual people in the world.
These religions bring in millions of dollars from NFL bible thumper players annually.
Ever wonder why they focus on “homosexuality”? $$$$$$$$
Isn’t there something called “The 10 Commandments”? The bible to christians is now what the constitution is to the bush regime, non existent!

This is a pretty effing lame comment.
If Dungy is in fact participating in a group with a proactive anti-Gay agenda, I have a problem with that. But by all accounts, in a sports world increasingly filled with assholes and loud-mouthed criminals, Dungy has been a presence of quiet dignity and consistency for the last 15 years or so.
I don’t agree with it at all, but if you are someone who lives by the principles that you believe in, I can respect your right to believe in them.
Calling into questions his son’s suicide is completely classless.

But I kinda of wonder the same thing … what if his boy was gay or THOUGHT he MIGHT be or whatever.. it is a fair question.
But the coach can support whatever legal thing he wants .. even hateful things.
The Colts can decide if they like this guy and what he stands for. This is a private business.
Wouldn’t people be surprised if they knew who was gay and who was not?

What a bunch of bull****. Because a man associates with a group that has an anti-gay plank in it’s platform, that it provides some sort of proof of his “anti-gay agenda”?
This is the kind of pinhead, reactionary thinking I’d expect from the idiots on the far right.
Please, stop with the cowardly Yellow Journalism.

just so you know….
at his son’s funeral, tony dungy referred to James as a ‘mama’s boy’.
after the funeral he talked with his Colts players aboout how they were important role models of masculinity, and how teen boys were being led astray by unmanly influences.

If football coaches can’t be blatantly anti-gay, wtf is the world coming to? Where can man-law practicioners feel safe?

“a group that has an anti-gay plank in it’s platform”???
Say huh?
It’s not like this is some tupperware club that occasionally hates on the gay, it’s an organization devoted to having a heterosexual-only culture.
It’s as if you said that just because the Ku Klux Klan has a plank in its platform doesn’t mean that all Klansmen are racists.
Tony Dungy is representing an anti-gay organization. How is he not culpable?

The IFI’s primary mission is to take rights away from gay people, and Tony Dungy is being celebrated as its “Man of the Year.” The IFI is not a religious organization, it is a political organization. It is the Indiana affiliate of James Dobson’s Focus on the Family and Tony Perkins’ Family Research Council. Does anybody here think those two organizations are primarily “pro-family” and only incidentally anti-gay?
